Don't forget that we are on Facebook as well. Announcements will be posted in both locations.
Dear Coastal Families,
The 2014 Coastal Lacrosse Season is right around the corner. Practices are scheduled to begin March 3rd, weather permitting and games will begin the weekend of March 29th.The schedule for the season will be posted as soon as it is solidified. The Annual Gladiator Dodgeball Party at Ocean City Recreation and Parks will be announced soon with other family events being planned.
Coastal Lacrosse Club is looking forward to a fantastic 6th season! We are all excited to see how far the club has come and looking forward to a positive future ahead. Our registration is now open and we hope to see our numbers grow as they have every year since the beginning. We will have teams at every age group for both boys and girls and are especially excited to see so many new families registering. We welcome them to the Coastal "family."
As in previous years, Coastal Lacrosse has been working hard to bring the game of lacrosse to all children on the Eastern Shore. Lacrosse is growing by leaps and bounds all over the country and the Eastern Shore is no exception. There are a variety of travel teams and club teams springing up all over, however we want you to remember that Coastal Lacrosse welcomes players of all abilities and it is our goal to have your child on the field playing as much as possible. We are a recreation club and it is our goal to have all interested children playing and enjoying the game of lacrosse. As in previous years, scholarships are available for those who need financial help as well as equipment.
Last year, Coastal sponsored several Play Days that included teams from both the ESYLA (Eastern Shore Youth Lacrosse Association) and the DYLA (Delmarva Youth Lacrosse Association). Our club directors worked extremely hard during the offseason to merge the two youth lacrosse leagues on the Delmarva Peninsula. We are planning on the same format of play with both leagues again this year, but we are also working with ESYLA clubs to set a Saturday schedule as well. We have had several ESYLA clubs agree to play games with us and are currently working on finalizing the schedule and hope to include games against Talbot, Atlantic, Beach, Shore Kaos and Salisbury among others. Our games and practices will be held at the Northern Worcester County Athletic Complex (County Fields). Coaches will also work with local clubs and try to schedule mid-week practice scrimmages.
As a family-run organization, we always welcome input from the families of Coastal Lacrosse. We welcome your thoughts and ideas and would love to see all of our families involved in our board, our events and our organization. Volunteers are always welcome! A special thanks to all of you who have worked hard to make our organization be so successful. This year we are looking for volunteers to take over the Girls Director position as well as volunteers to help out with fund-raising, concessions, apparel and field upkeep.Jeanene Gwin
